Curriculum
Number Systems: This unit introduces the concepts of real numbers, rational and irrational numbers, and decimal expansion of rational
numbers, terminating and non-terminating recurring decimals, representation of rational numbers on a number line, operations on real numbers, laws of
exponents, rationalization of real numbers, and comparison of surds.
Algebra: This unit deals with algebraic expressions, equations and their properties. It covers topics such as
polynomials, zeros of a polynomial, remainder theorem, factor theorem, algebraic identities, factorization of polynomials, linear equations in two
variables, the solution of a pair of linear equations by the graphical method, the substitution method, the elimination method, and the cross-multiplication method.
Coordinate Geometry: This unit explores the geometry of curves and lines in two dimensions. It covers topics such as Cartesian
system of rectangular coordinates, plotting of points in the plane, distance formula, section formula, area of a triangle, and collinearity of three points.
Geometry: This unit studies the properties of angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and constructions. It covers the topics
such as lines and angles, parallel lines and transversals, angle sum property of a triangle, exterior angle property of a triangle, congruence of triangles,
criteria for congruence of triangles, properties of congruent triangles, inequalities in a triangle, quadrilaterals, angle sum property of a
quadrilateral, types of quadrilaterals and their properties, circles, angle subtended by a chord at a point, perpendicular from the center to a chord,
circle through three points, equal chords and their distances from the center, angles subtended by an arc of a circle, cyclic quadrilaterals, and basic
constructions.
Mensuration: This unit deals with the measurement of the area and volume of various plane and solid figures. It covers topics such as
as area of a triangle using Heron’s formula, area of a quadrilateral, area of a polygon, surface area and volume of a cuboid, a cube, a right circular
cylinder, a right circular cone, and a sphere.
Statistics and Probability: This unit deals with the concepts of statistics and probability and their applications. It covers the
topics such as collection and presentation of data, graphical representation of data, measures of central tendency, mean, median, and mode of ungrouped and grouped data, cumulative frequency, cumulative frequency distribution, and cumulative frequency curves (ogives), probability of an event, empirical probability, classical definition of probability, and complementary events.
