Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for Class 9th (9th+Foundation)

Math:

 

  • Number Systems: Covers representation of rational and irrational numbers on the number line, decimal expansions, operations on real numbers, and laws of exponents.
  • Algebra: Introduces polynomials in one variable, zeros of a polynomial, remainder theorem, algebraic identities, and the solution/graph of linear equations in two variables.
  • Coordinate Geometry: Explores the Cartesian system, plotting points in a coordinate plane, and writing coordinates of a given point.
  • Geometry: Includes Euclid’s axioms and postulates, properties of lines, angles, triangle congruence criteria, quadrilateral properties, and circle theorems.
  • Mensuration: Focuses on areas of triangles using alongside the surface areas and volumes of standard 3D solids like cubes, cuboids, cylinders, spheres, and cones.
  • Statistics & Probability: Deals with the collection and graphical representation of statistical data (bar graphs, histograms) and basic experimental/empirical probability.

 

Physics
  • Motion: Distance and displacement, velocity, uniform and non-uniform motion along a straight line, acceleration, and distance-time/velocity-time graphs.
  • Force and Laws of Motion: Force and inertia, Newton’s first, second, and third laws of motion, momentum, and the law of conservation of momentum.
  • Work and Energy: Work done by a force, kinetic and potential energy, power, and the law of conservation of energy.
  • Sound: Nature of sound and its propagation in various media, speed of sound, reflection of sound, echo, and the structure of the human ear (basic idea).

Chemistry
  • Matter in Our Surroundings: States of matter (solid, liquid, gas), characteristics, shape, volume, density, change of state (melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation, sublimation), and cooling due to evaporation.
  • Is Matter Around Us Pure?: Nature of matter as elements, compounds, and mixtures; heterogeneous and homogeneous mixtures; colloids and suspensions; and physical/chemical changes.
  • Atoms and Molecules: Laws of chemical combination, atomic and molecular masses, chemical formulas of common compounds, and the mole concept.
  • Structure of the Atom: Sub-atomic particles (electrons, protons, neutrons), Thomson’s, Rutherford’s, and Bohr’s models of an atom, atomic number, mass number, valency, isotopes, and isobars.

 

Biology:

  • Cell – The Fundamental Unit of Life: Studies the cell as the basic structural and functional unit of life, including cell discovery, plasma membrane, cell wall, cell organelles (mitochondria, chloroplasts, Golgi apparatus, etc.), and cell division (mitosis and meiosis). 
  • Tissues: Explores multi-cellular organization by studying plant tissues (meristematic and permanent tissues) and animal tissues (epithelial, connective, muscular, and nervous tissues).
  • Reproduction: Introduces the core concepts of asexual and sexual reproduction, reproductive structures in plants, and basic human reproductive systems along with health and hygiene awareness. 
  • Diversity in Living Organisms / Patterns in Life: Focuses on the classification of plants and animals, the hierarchy of classification categories, binomial nomenclature, and the importance of biodiversity.
